Autumn-Winter Style Guide

Author Sometimes it might seem easier to put away your stylish wardrobe for autumn and winter as the effort may seem wasted on those murky grey days. Yes, we all know that it`s cold and wet but that alone should be the main reason for going outside in style.
There is a wide variety of colors available for those Autumn-Winter 2011/12 styles. The choice of colors all depends on whether you want to keep your look neutral or muted to tone in with those overcast days or whether you want to make a statement of bold. If you prefer those darker colors then keep an eye on the catwalks for the forest greens, plums and midnight blues. The little brighter options include sea greens and teals and you might want to consider wearing silvers, blues and purples for that `urban romance` or metropolitan twist. Underwear Under Boardshorts?
For guys who’ve been wearing boardshorts for some time, this may seem like an easy question. For guys switching over to boardshorts (boardies, board shorts) from loose-fitting swim trunks, the answer may not seem so obvious.
True boardshorts don’t have the familiar mesh liner that some guys are used to; boardshorts with a mesh liner are wanna-be boardshorts. Guys moving to board shorts have asked since there isn’t a liner do they go commando or wear underwear or something else under them? The short answer is, go commando!
Really, commando? Are you sure? YES! Guys that wear underwear or boxer shorts under boardshorts quite simply look like a goof. Boardshorts were originally developed for surfers with the quality of being fast drying. If you’re wearing underwear under your boardshorts they’re going to stay wet longer and not let the shorts properly dry. The result of wet underwear under a now dry boardshort looks like you’ve wet your pants!
While I’m at it, if you wear boxer shorts and let them hang out of your boardshorts, you look like an even bigger goof! It now looks like you’ve wet your pants and you’re missing a belt.
If I don’t wear underwear under my boardies, I won’t have control over my manhood moving around. Typically boardshorts aren’t so loose that things will flop around. If you’re worried about unplanned, er, happiness that’s a different problem. Chances are if you’re over 16 you should have better control. And, if you can’t control things, think of it as a conversation starter, a way to break the ice. Ok, ok, if you HAVE to wear something underneath, I would limit it to a swimmer’s jock. Swimmer’s jock are generally smaller than regular jocks and are made from quick drying material – often used under a swimmer’s “speedo” to reduce bulge and drag for better speed. For you, it will allow things to stay under control and speed up drying time over underwear. The one pictured is an Activeman from Jockstrap Central for $8.95
How should they sit on my hips? Quite honestly, traditional boardshorts sit very low on your waist, just covering your butt. Boardshorts typically don’t sit as high up as loose-fitting trunks do.
