Tribe Burn Out Brief – A Men’s Underwear Review

Over the past several months, I’ve had the opportunity to review a number of underwear styles from Tribe.  Without exception, I have been pleased with what I find from Tribe: quality, unique fabrics, comfort.  Tribe is another quality men’s brand from down under.

Today’s review on Tribe’s Burn Out Brief is no exception to what I’ve historically found with Tribe.  The Burn Out Brief that I tried is part of Tribe’s Standard Brief Cut.  The Burn Out fabric is also available in the Slim Side Cut for those that like a bit less material (more of a bikini fit than brief fit).  The Standard Brief cut is different from what you may find in other brand’s brief cut.  I would tend to say that it is somewhere between bikini and lowrise brief (see pictures).  The main difference is that the Standard is cut wider on the hip than the Slim Side.

On comfort, I found the standard brief in the Burn Out fabric to be very comfortable.  While it’s a lowrise, there is adequate rear-end coverage and it sits high enough that you don’t feel like they’re falling down (sometime too much of a lowrise creates this feeling).  For pouch comfort, it’s adequate and comfortable.  It’s not a true pouch front but it’s not a flat front either.

What I liked most about the Burn Out Brief is the fabric.  Tribe really has some very unique fabrics that you don’t find anywhere else.  The Burn Out fabric is sheer with patterns of velvety material on top.  The combination peeks the viewers interest with out giving away the whole picture.  Let’s just say they left my wife wanting to see more. :-)  The fabric is very soft and has a luxury feel to it.  Truly, very comfortable for all day, or all night.

Like most Tribe underwear, the Burn Out Brief has made my favorite’s list and can easily recommend them to you.  Priced at roughly $24 (USD) they are an excellent buy considering the comfort, quality, and unique material.  To find out more about Tribe’s Burn Out Brief or any of their other designs, check out their website.

Tribe Aqua Jungle Brief – A Review

The Tribe Aqua Jungle Brief is my latest men’s underwear review.  I’ve written several underwear reviews on Tribe and once again am impressed with their products.

Tribe’s Brief is their standard brief cut (in comparison to their slim side and trunk brief).  The standard brief was designed to cut wider on the hip and be more of hipster style.  For me, I found the standard brief to be very comfortable and attractive.  This is definitely a sexy brief than most “standard briefs” and looks more like a bikini brief.  Between the standard brief and slim side, there isn’t too much difference.  The fabric I tried is the Aqua Jungle pattern.  Aqua Jungle is a white and aqua print with jungle-style leaves on them and made from a soft viscose/elastane blend with a 100% modal lined pouch.

The standard brief fit me quite well.  I found the pouch to be comfortable and supportive throughout the day.  The brief sits comfortably at your hips and the high leg openings provide comfort and ease of movement. For rear end coverage, Tribe’s standard brief is full coverage.  I didn’t have any problems with wedgies or discomfort.  Being a full seat, I was comfortable all day.

I really like this brand – their styles and fit are fantastic.  Not only do they make really comfortable men’s underwear, they do so with fun colors and designs.  Tribe continues to be one of my favorite brands and can easily recommend their standard brief.  Check out Tribe’s site for more information and additional patterns or cuts.

Tribe Skull Long Boxer – A Review

The Tribe Skull Long Boxer is my latest review.  I’ve written several reviews on Tribe and continue to be impressed with their products.

Tribe’s Long Boxer is a longer version than their short boxer but for guys in the states, this shouldn’t be confused with a midcut.  The Long Boxer is more in line with the traditional length of a boxer brief and Tribe’s Short Boxer is more like a hipster brief.  I like both of Tribe’s long and short styles.  For me, the big difference is on appearance as I’ve found both to be fairly equal in comfort.  For the Skull pattern I liked the look of the Long Boxer.  The “skull” is a blank on white abstract print that resemble skulls when you look at them.
The Long Boxer was comfortable and fit well.  I found the legs to stay in place and not ride up.  There isn’t a defined pouch, but the soft jersey/elastane blend had enough give that you were supported and well defined.  I enjoyed how the the Long Boxer sat on my waist and always like a full seat (obvious with a boxer).  The jersey/elastane fabric is a soft, stretch material that was comfortable to wear and feel.  The pouch is lined in a wonderful 100% modal fabric for extra comfort.

As you can tell from my other reviews of Tribe, I really like this brand.  Not only do they make really comfortable underwear, they do so with fun colors and designs.  Tribe continues to be one of my favorite brands and can easily recommend the Long Boxer in the Skull pattern.  Check out Tribe’s site for more information and additional patterns.

Tribe Trunk Brief Review in Minty Geometric

In my last post, I wrote on Tribe’s  short boxer in the Minty Geometric pattern.  Tribe also makes their Minty Geometric pattern in a trunk brief.  The cut of the trunk brief is a bit wider to look more like a short but with the support of a brief while giving it a masculine brief look for all body types. From my last post, you know that I find the Minty Geometric pattern very nice and out of the ordinary – so the Minty Geometric is a winner in my book.  For the cut, I found the pouch to be quite comfortable and supportive.  The trunk brief would be good for wearing when you play sports or exercise.  What I especially like about the trunk brief is that there is full coverage for you butt – no wedgies, ;-D
Again an all around great brief – both in style and comfort.  If the minty geometric isn’t your style, you can find the trunk brief in 11 different patterns.

You can see my other reviews of Tribe to find out more about some of their designs.
If you live near Atlanta, GA, you can now find Tribe at The Poster Hut.  The Poster Hut only sells in store for now but have talked about eventually going online. I’ll let you know when they launch an online store.

Tribe’s Minty Geometric Short Boxer Review

As you know, Tribe is one of my favorite brands.  Tribe’s Minty Geometric short boxer is not only good looking, but comfy too.  The cut of the short boxer is designed to hold you properly all around – and it does.  I really like how the pouch holds and supports you without squashing you.  The cut also allows for comfortable support of your butt.  Being a short boxer, I didn’t have to deal with any issues of the legs riding up on me.  I wear these time and time again because they’re so comfortable and supportive.  For style, I like the look of the short boxer and of the Minty Geometric pattern.  Actually, this is one of the things I like best about Tribe – their patterns aren’t the typical patterns/designs you see in other brands.  All around, a great short boxer – both in style and comfort.

You can see my other reviews of Tribe to find out more about some of their designs.

Black Chunky Mesh Brief Review

Tribe is one of my favorite brands. I really like how Tribe tries to go beyond the ordinary and use some great cuts and fabrics. My most recent review of Tribe in on their Chunky Mesh Brief.  With this being a mesh brief, not much is left to the imagination. :-)  The entire brief is made from the soft chunky mesh.  The pouch, however, is lined with 100% modal material for comfort and to leave something for the imagination.  I found the chunky mesh and the modal lining to be quite comfortable for a mesh brief.  I am a 34 inch waist and often hover between sizes.  Typically, I’ve worn the medium in Tribe (32-34).  The cut of the Chunky Mesh brief seemed to be a bit tighter and probably could have gone with the large instead (34-36).  Tribes sizing is true to size so stick with the chart.  If you fit into to sizes, I’d probably go a size up on the Chunky Mesh brief.

For wearing, I don’t know that these would be my first pick for a long day in a business suit.  For a night out under a pair of jeans, I’d easily grab these.  I always find it a bit exciting knowing that you’re wearing something hot in anticipation of events yet to come (wink).

Normally $39.95 AUS, they’re now on sale for $25.95 AUS (aprx $23 USD)

Tribe’s Devore Brief and Short Boxer Review

Tribe hits it home again! This time, the home run is with their Black Devore fabric.  I tried the Black Devore in their brief and short boxer.  Sexy, classy luxury pretty much sums it up!  The Black Devore fabric has a velvet pattern across a mesh base, creating just enough transparency to keep things interesting.  The feel of the fabric is pure luxury.  The Devore fabric also comes in a sexy red.
The brief is cut wider on the hip than the slim side (which I reviewed earlier) for a great look and feel.  There was a comfortable fit in the front and adequate coverage in the rear.  The short boxer is also is quite comfortable in the front full coverage in the rear.  The legs of the short boxer are just that, short.  While they’re short, which creates a very attractive look, they’re also very comfortable and eliminates and problems with legs riding up.

I really, really like the Devore fabric in Tribe’s brief cut and short boxer.  Without a doubt, one of my personal favorites and I highly recommend either cut in the Devore fabric.  You may want to consider one of Tribe’s wash bags.  If you buy 3 pairs of Tribe you can get the wash bag free (you do this during check out).

Tribe Aspect Mesh Slim Side Brief Review…

The Tribe Slim Side Brief in abstract mesh is not just a good looking brief, it’s comfortable as well. The slim side brief is cut slim on the side and high on your hip for comfort and looks.  I tried the Tribe Slim Side Brief in abstract mesh, but it’s also available in other fabrics too.

I found the brief to have minimal coverage for an attractive look yet maintaining a good comfort level.  There was adequate room in front and full coverage for me in the rear (something that’s important to me.)  The front pouch is lined with abstract mesh and is less transparent than that of the rear. The Abstract Mesh creates a very sexy transparent mesh with a cool, abstract print (hence the name.)

I definitely recommend this brief if you looking for a sexy, mesh, comfortable brief.  If you fluctuate between two sizes on the size guide, you may want to consider going up a size – of course depending on if you typically fluctuate up or down on your size.

Tribe Palm Short Boxer – a must have!

Tribe Palm Short Boxer wins big with me!   Made from a silky lightweight 100% modal fabric, I can hardly tell I’m wearing them.  The Palm fabric sports a fun black and white palm print – great for reminding me of the tropics when I’m freezing in the midwest (USA).  ;-)

The Palm Short Boxer also comes in a variety of other cuts (brief, bikini, boxer brief) so if you like the print and material, you can buy in other cuts too.
As I said, I found the fabric to be incredibly soft and comfortable.  Skimpy and comfortable are a win for me!    The legs of the short boxer sit just low enough and just high enough that I get the boxer look without the trouble of the legs riding up and get plenty of rear coverage.  Speaking of the rear, there is stitch that rides up the center of the rear. In other brands, I felt like I had a wedgie all day but not with Tribe!  With the Tribe Palm Short Boxer, I found that the center stitch does as it should – highlights the curves of your rear without giving you a wedgie.

In short (pun intended), I found the Tribe Palm Short Boxer to be comfortable, sexy, and fun!  Most certainly on my favorite’s list.
