Men’s Accessories Guide

Autumn/winter 2011 is definitely the key season for men’s accessories. Hats, scarves, belts and shoes are all hot to go at the time of year when the temperatures start to drop and a few extra layers help inject a bit of quirkiness into a look which can risk being as grey as the weather outside.

Hats are definitely big this season and by big I don`t just mean trendy – they are indeed BIG! Fur lined, waxed canvas trapper hats are a really cool look which will also keep you warm at the same time as keeping the rain off your coiffed hair, or if you prefer something a little more subtle then take a look at some of the knitted trappers which are a just as snug but slightly less over the top. It`s all a bit Wildman of the woods when it comes to men`s hats this season. Knitted balaclava`s are another key fashion trend, but if you don`t want to fork out for designer process you can always get your granny to knit one for you.

When it comes to scarves it is all a bit more subtle and discreet. Muted greys and blacks are a great choice, with detailing in the form of thin stripes and subtle patterns. For something a little more snug and cosy there is a great range of men`s snoods available this season. Snoods are a really versatile fashion garment which is often lined in fleece to keep you extra warm in all kinds of weather and for autumn 2011 they are not just for the girls. There are plenty of uber masculine takes on this winter classic which will have you wrapped up warm against even the harshest of elements.

Watches are available in a full range of autumnal tones from browns and khakis right through to deep umber oranges. When it comes to watches, the chunkier the better as it can be tricky to tell the time when you are wrapped up in layers, another key trend for this season. Much of the key trends for autumn / winter 2011 have a slightly retro feel to them, echoing back to a simpler time where men`s fashion was classy and discreet rather than totally in your face. One of the best things about these more retro looks is that they won`t go out of fashion quickly so you`ll be able to wear them for many seasons to come.

Of course, if you are stuck in an office all day then it can be a little bit difficult to stand out from the crowd. This is where this season`s trend for chunky footwear certainly comes into its own. There`s no better way to inject a bit of personality into your drab office attire than by teaming it with a pair of sturdy boots, such as Aetrex, which are actually good for your feet too. Girls aren`t left out either; Men’s and women’s Aetrex shoes are designed with comfort in mind and are great for anyone who spends most of their working life with their feet firmly on the ground.
